High profile events in Los Angeles are staffed the same way as any other event, with two differences: who is allowed on the guest list side of the bar, and how much of the job is coordination. Staff are $70 per hour for a bartender, $90 for a mixologist or a banquet captain, and $85 for security, all with a 4 hour minimum and a $100 service charge per person.

Discretion is a staffing decision, not a promise

Every bartender at a private residence sees the house, the guests and the conversations. On industry events, product launches and anything with press attached, expect a non-disclosure agreement, and expect the staffing company to have its staff sign one. This is normal practice in LA event production, and a reasonable thing to ask about before you book.

What makes it workable is employment. Coordinating with a venue or a production

The complications are structural. A production has a call sheet, a venue has a load-in window, and both need staff names in advance. Settle load-in time, where the bar can physically stand, power, ice access and the security list before anything else. Ask by name when you book. Requesting staff you have worked with before is normal, though nobody can promise a particular person is free on a particular date.

Do you travel outside Los Angeles?
