Guest count sets the staff

Count heads first. One bartender covers up to 50 guests, and a second is recommended at medium or heavy consumption. Light means 1 to 2 drinks per guest, medium 3 to 4, heavy 6 or more. Birthdays run medium or heavy, which is why a 45 guest party often books two bartenders.

Some venues and events need a permit, and an ABC one-day permit handled by Platinum is $1,950. Whether yours needs one depends on the venue and whether alcohol is sold, so confirm with California ABC or the venue.

Shirtless and bikini bartenders

For private parties, a shirtless or bikini bartender is $100 per hour and a shirtless or bikini mixologist is $150 per hour. The 4 hour minimum and $100 service charge apply the same way, so one for four hours is 4 x $100 = $400 plus $100, or $500.
